Historical Background
West Ham United F.C. is a professional football club which is based in Stratford, East London. The club was founded over 100 years ago and has gained a popular following, not only locally but across the world. In fact, thousands of people tune in every week to watch West Ham United live stream, especially during the Premier League.
The club was formed in 1895 as the Thames Ironworks, although by 1900 it had changed its name to West Ham United. From its early years, the team performed well, and by 1923 it got into Division One. Furthermore, the team was also able to make to the first final of the FA Cup.
Decades later, in 1964, hundreds of thousands of fans watched West Ham United on tv as they finally raised their first FA Cup trophy. That same year, the team also won the European Cup. Numerous West Ham United players were also responsible for the glorious World Cup victory of England in 1966.
Stadium
Today, West Ham United is based at the London Stadium, but this only became a reality after years of advocacy and pressure on the British Olympic authorities. Before moving to their current home in 2016, fans used to catch West Ham United on tv at their former stadium at Boleyn Ground.
Crest and Colours
In its over a century of existence, the team's crest has undergone a complete transformation. Successive crests feature two crossing rivet hammers, tools which were commonly used by shipbuilders. West Ham United's home was filled with the daily noise generated by Thames Ironworks. Past crests also featured a tower, which represented Anne Boleyn’s Tower.
When the team moved to the London Olympic Stadium, the crest was updated to reflect the team's new home. After the 15/16 season, the crest no longer had the tower but kept its rivet hammers. The crest also included London to show its international nature.
The team's main colours consist of a claret yoke/blue sleeves design. During away matches, however, the team prefers using its traditional, all dark blue kit.
Key Players and Managers
There are plenty of players which kept fans watching West Ham United on tv. Billy Bonds, Bobby Moore, and Sir Geoff Hurst, the hat trick hero of England's 1966 World Cup, are just a few of the best-known players. Manager Ron Greenwood is probably one of the fan's favourite, since he led the team through a series of national and international championships.
Honours, Noteworthy Stats and Memorable TV Moments
In 1980, millions of viewers watching the FA Cup on tv were stunned to see a team considered inferior winning the championship. This is just one of the amazing accomplishments of West Ham United F.C. As those watching Premier League live streaming might know, the club has played 876 matches, scored 1,053 goals and won 287 matches.
