FURY VS WILDER 3 – ONCE AND FOR ALL
Early in the morning on October 10th, it’s once and for all as Fury vs Wilder 3 takes place in Las Vegas as they battle for the WBC belt for a third and probably final time.
The two gentlemen are familiar with each other as they have met twice before, both times they have fought in Wilder’s home country of the USA.
Controversial draw, Fury wins the second
The first meeting took place on the first of December 2018. This fight went all the way and was ruled a draw. A controversial decision, as many felt that Fury had done enough to win by decision.
Tyson Fury deniably won the most rounds in this fight. However, he was knocked down on two separate occasions in the fight. Once in round nine and a second time in round twelve.
The second meeting took place on February 22, 2020. Tyson Fury won the bout in the seventh round after Wilder’s corner threw in the towel to spare his fighter from further injury. It was a fight that was dominated by Tyson Fury from start to finish. Fury won the fight using his quick jabs and well-placed power punches while dancing away from a wildly swinging Deontay Wilder.
The Gypsy King vs The Bronze Bomber: The third fight
Heading into the third meeting between the people’s champion “The Gypsy King” and “The Bronze Bomber”, Tyson Fury is the favorite to win the fight (2/7). The Brit has never lost a professional fight in boxing and is now, according to himself, in the absolute best shape of his life. Fury himself has said that he expects to run Wilder over like a steamroller and knock him out in spectacular fashion.
Deontay Wilder enters this fight as the underdog (5/2), something that is not a regular occurrence for the Alabama fighter. Ahead of this fight, Deontay Wilder has changed head coaches. Wilder’s new coach is Malik Scott – one of Wilder’s former rivals who he knocked out in the first round when they met in 2014.
Wilder has been very quiet ahead of this fight, not making much noise in his press conferences. A fact that Fury has interpreted as a sign of a weakness. Accordingly, Fury is claiming that Wilder has taken this fight for all the wrong reasons – because of the money.
Deontay Wilder as mentioned earlier is the underdog in this fight. But you can never count out a guy who can punch with such power. It would probably only need half a punch from Wilder to take his opponent down. Therefore, Fury really needs to stay on his toes throughout the fight if he wants to walk out of the ring victorious.
