Porto have had a near perfect start to their domestic season, with six wins out of seven, with their only loss coming away to table-toppers Sporting. Scoring 16 goals and conceding just three, Porto have shown a defensive resilience and an attacking fluidity that ten Hag has yet to establish in his United side despite this being his third season in the dugout. Vitor Bruno will be confident of a win as his side are yet to lose at home this season.

Moreover, United will have to come up with a plan to stop the attacking threat of Galeno and Samu Omorodion, the latter of whom signed for Porto in the summer after a move from Atletico Madrid to Chelsea had fallen through at the last minute. Omorodion has settled well into life in Portugal, with five goals in as many games for his new club. After opening their Europa League campaign with a loss away to Bodoe/Glimt, Omorodion will be keen to prove that he can deliver on the big stage by helping his teammates claim the three points against United.

Are ten Hag’s Days Numbered?

Manchester United will look to bounce back after another awful performance in the league, this time losing 3-0 at home to Tottenham Hotspur. The pressure is building on ten Hag, who has now seen his side fail to win any of their last three matches in all competitions (2D, 1L), leaving United sitting in the bottom half of the league table in 13th, and with just one point going into matchday two of their Europa League campaign.

A victory will be required on Thursday night as ten Hag looks to turn things around at the club after just two wins in their opening six games. 20-year-old Alejandro Garnacho will be key on the night, being United’s top scorer so far this season with four goals. The likes of Rashford and Zirkzee will also be expected to deliver, but there are major concerns as to whether they can. Overall, United have struggled to find the net with just five in the league, whilst already conceding eight.
