Newcastle will seek to arrest a run of three home draws in a row and build on beating Fulham comfortably on the road last time out when Brentford make the trip to the north-east on Saturday.

The Bees are only a point behind Newcastle in the Premier League table but they have won just once in their past six Premier League games, drawing a blank the last twice they have taken to the field.

Magpies tough to beat at home

Eddie Howe’s time in charge has seen Newcastle focus on their home form first and foremost, with his team once in front of their own fans during 2022 – with that defeat coming against Liverpool.

Newcastle have drawn three straight at home but the results speak for themselves with Howe creating a team that is extremely difficult to break down at St. James’ Park. Apart from a wild 3-3 draw against Premier League champions Manchester City, Newcastle’s recent home games have all been quite close. Six of their last seven home games have seen under 2.5 goals.

Brentford have drawn three of their four away games in the Premier League this season but the Bees have only won one of their last six on the road and they miss the influence of Christian Eriksen.

While Newcastle ran out 2-0 winners away to Brentford in the last meeting between the sides, it is worth noting Josh Dasilva was sent off for the Bees in the opening stages of that game, when it was goalless.

These teams are only separated by a single point in the Premier League table, with both Newcastle and Brentford targeting a finish in the top half of the table at the end of the season.
