World Cup Group G Matchday 3 Odds: Who will join Brazil in the last 16?
Group G has been one of the groups to watch in this World Cup so far. Many of us watch the group for Brazil but it has been the other sides that have stirred up the more entertaining fixtures thus far.
Don’t get us wrong, watching Brazil play in the World Cup at any time is always entertaining but they have played very conservatively so far this campaign. They have failed to score in the first half of both matches so far and have escaped thanks to individual brilliance.
Now that they’ve qualified for the last 16, hopefully we will see them loosen up. The other three teams in the group still have all to play for in the final outing.

Serbia vs Switzerland
- When? Friday 2nd December at 19:00 BST
- Where? Stadium 974, Qatar
- Latest Result: Serbia 1-2 Switzerland, June 2018 (World Cup)
Serbia and Switzerland both have all to play for in this final match-up, a win for Switzerland would see them automatically qualify. This would be the ideal result for them, but they’ll be fending off the advances of Serbia who still have a chance to go through. For this to happen, they need results to seriously go their way.
They need Brazil to beat or draw to Cameroon and then they need to beat Switzerland. There is definitely a chance and it will likely be in their own hands considering the form of Brazil.
Serbia do have some fantastic players in their ranks and they were agonisingly close to squeezing past Cameroon and putting themselves in great stead to qualify. They went 3-1 up before the hour mark thanks to goals from Pavlovic, Milinkovic-Savic and Mitrovic. They should’ve been able to see the game out from this position but were halted by Vincent Aboubakar and Bayern Munich forward Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting. There were positives to take on the attacking front, but the defensive area clearly needs improvement. The things they’d do for Nemanja Vidic to be back in his prime…
Switzerland were unfortunate to be beaten by Brazil. They kept them at bay for the majority of the game, only allowing them to get in behind a few times. But in the dying embers of the game, the Brazilian quality showed through. Man United midfielder Casemiro scored a superb goal to seal a 1-0 victory; the stadium erupted.
Group G Matchday 3 Odds: Our Pick
This game will be very intense, very tough to pick. Both sides have fantastic players and great motivations but we just can’t get past Serbia.
Having two excellent striking options in Mitrovic and Vlahovic as well as Milinkovic-Slavic in midfield makes them superior to the Swiss.

Cameroon vs Brazil
- When? Friday 2nd December, 19:00 BST
- Where? Lusail Stadium, Qatar
- Latest Result: Brazil 1-0 Cameroon, November 2018 (International Friendlies)
The final game of the World Cup group stages until 2026. It’s been a very entertaining and engaging World Cup so far and the high volume of games everyday will be missed by us all. But nothing lasts forever and hopefully Brazil and Cameroon will give us a good send off.
Despite qualifying, Brazil have been fairly underwhelming so far this tournament. When you consider the talent their squad possess, you’d almost expect to see more from them than 1-0 and 2-0 wins.
Their standout men have been Premier League assets. Casemiro and Richarlison. Both have scored fantastic goals and been fantastic overall for Brazil. Now they’ve qualified, we’ll likely see the pair rested. Giving a chance for some other players to shine. Like Gabriel Jesus and Fabinho.
It won’t be an easy group bow out for Brazil as they face a Cameroon team just a win away from joining them in the last 16. Cameroon have shown fantastic spirit and determination to keep themselves in contention. They will be striving to push a step further and beat the favourites.
Group G Matchday 3 Odds: Our Pick
Despite having all to play for we still think Cameroon will sadly fall short. Brazil will keep their feet planted on the gas and the players who haven’t yet started will be hungry to make an impact.
We can see them winning once again and keeping a clean sheet. Giving them a perfect 3/3 record.
